Welcome to our TVissimo - TV Schedule Blog. This post explains our new service offering. The current options for finding TV shows include newspaper listings or TV Guide, the cable or satellite service on-screen guides, several websites offering on-line TV schedule listings or endless channel flipping on the remote control. Most of us have experienced the frustration of using these methods, the inability to quickly find programs, or miss their beginnings when we are ready to sit down to watch our favorite shows.
TVissimo is a newly designed website combining sophisticated Google™-style searches with a user-friendly interface to create a personalized profile. The technology supporting this service is patent pending for the different technological approaches we have developed. Currently the site is in demonstration mode. All the functions work and you can test them but we are not now providing the live feed for new shows. We encourage your exploration and feedback. We are also working on a new interface.
This search engine capability is unique in its ability to search for any word used to describe a TV show, including the title, description, actor list, original air date, rating, status (premier, series, rerun, etc.) and find shows matching the search criteria. Partial phrase searches are fully enabled, such that a search for the term “new” will identify and list all shows titles such as:”news …”, “newscast”, “7news”, “newspaper” as well as any shows where the title or description includes the letters “n, e & w” as part of any word. This ability is unique among other TV show schedule websites. Google™ and other search engines opened up the vast wealth of information on the web and now TVissimo opens up the expanding array of content available through television.
Selecting your location (one or many) and your provider (antenna, cable or satellite) identifies the channels available to you. Favorite groupings are created in Genres, Categories or specific Programs. All programs carry with them “characteristics” such as “sports”, “news” etc. Shows such as “NFL-news” are categorized both as News and Sports “types” and will be found on either searches.
Finding program names from a Google™-style, multi-search option that includes all show characteristics enables the tool to offer a comprehensive set of choices for any viewer. Searches on program names or categories, or a combination of these two options, create a list of favorites for your profile. All settings in your profile are available for all your viewing locations, so your favorite programs list follows you around with just the channels and times changing as appropriate.
To find shows to watch (Today for any time period, or for any number of days within the next 14 days) simply select a time-slot to bring up shows from the favorites list. You can pare it down or run global ad-hoc searches from all available shows. You can print the list or send show-time alerts by email or Twitter messages to yourself or anyone else, even entire groups of contacts, like your entire family, your coworkers, etc..
The system also offers a new “context sensitive” shopping method showing available related products of music CDs, Video DVDs, books, action figures, toys, games, fashions and memorabilia. We hope you enjoy our service and let us know what you think about it thorough this blog. We welcome your ideas for making it even better. You can find our service at our website, TVissimo.com.
